Excel for Charity is a brilliant service offered by Eastern Light EPM International to serve the world of international writers and charities. In a world of suffering economies, people are putting more and more of their money into nest eggs for their families, and generally tend to give less to charity. Government bodies that usually give to charities are also seriously cutting back on such subsidies.

Writing Competitions are however still popular with both established and professional writers who enter them as part of their writing business and upcoming writers who attempt to validate their work, beat the bigger writers and write themselves to publication, sometimes winning some cash too.

Excel for Charity balances things out. One third of net entry fees from every one of our competitions goes to the charity it supports, and from what is left, we pay out prize money to the winners and commended writers. Like the proverbial one stone that kills two birds, we raise money for charities whilst rewarding creative excellence with literary glory and cash prizes.

Excel for Charity International Writing Competitions Series was founded for Eastern Light EPM International in 2009 and administered by Nnorom Azuonye.

Nnorom Azuonye is the Director of Operations and Creative Services at Eastern Light EPM. He is also the Founder and Administrator of Sentinel Poetry Movement - the International Community of Writers and Artists established in 2002, publishers of Sentinel Literary Quarterly, Sentinel Champions and Sentinel Nigeria. He is also the publisher and editor of Nollywood Focus magazine. Author of Letter to God and Other Poems (2003), The Bridge Selection: Poems for the Road (2005) and Blue Hyacinths (2010: Ed. with Geoff Stevens), Azuonye lives in London with his wife and two children.
